I sat next to God today.
Right here, on the bench
in the park.
He quietly told me that
nothing really matters.

I wanted to ask about
life, but all
that came to mind was
"Why are you here?"

He gazed at the clear sky,
smiled and quietly said,
"It's meaningless."
How did he know?
"You gain and lose nothing.
Nothing but one piece
of humanity at a time."

I think that the title and the poem really speak for themselves here.

If you don't get the joke, you should really read The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series.
It'll clear things up. It's a good series of books as well.

Now, about the style of writing and general tone...
I really find it new to my style, this poem was originally different (as in, before workshopping it endlessly with *skufti through boozeful nights and so)..
There is somewhat of a hidden optimism in it as well as a nihilistic point of view laced with sarcasm. Which fits me well.

Originally written after I saw the last quote in some comment I wrote about one of my poems. It's mine and I love this quote. I just had to write a poem to match it. Never figured out it will be so... whatever the previous paragraph said.

Or something like that. Just read it and have fun.

And once again, thanks to *skufti

The sanest people in this world are in the asylums: you have to be a little crazy to survive out in this crazy world.

He He :D Pieces about jaded God(s) are usually fun.
Truthfully, I didn't entirely like the ending. First you say you lose nothing, then you say you lose something. Forgive me for sounding thick (I've a bad habit of taking things literally) but, that sounds mundo contradictory. Unless you mean Humanity isn't worth anything?

Well, I really couldn't think of any simpler explanation. Life worth crap. Every time I watch the evening news I find dozen more reasons why I disown this race and society as much as possible.

You lose nothing. You gain nothing. People give so much importance to money that humanity becomes nothing. It's not me who said that.
It's everyone that is a part of the pop-nation. It's everyone who's a part of the stupidity regimes. It's all those people that live for the money and not for being better or for the sake of higher knowledge.

They are the ones made humanity cheap. Not me.

AMAZING!!!
i love it
I think the line about "live, but all" should be broken differently... it feels a little strange.
I think you could end it without the last few lines (after italics) as awesome as they are. ^_^
good stuff!
